Recurrent/chronic BV

He

Hey ladies! So, for almost a year now, after every period, I get BV. I’ve been freaking out because I hate it and it’s so annoying to keep on top of (if you’ve had it, you know the smell is less than awesome).

I’ve tried literally every home remedy and have religiously kept up with proper hygiene, pretty much 100% cotton all over my life, baking soda, tea tree oil, boric acid, ACV, etc etc etc.

Today at Planned Parenthood I had a fantastic convo with the doctor. I realized aaalllll of this started when I began my medication regime for my Bipolar II and ADHD. I currently take Wellbutrin, Lamictal & adderall. I also take probiotics geared towards vaginal health every day....and I’m lactose intolerant. One of the awful side affects of my meds is pretty constant constipation. This is also the most medication I’ve ever been on. She pointed out that I should cut out dairy completely, even butter, which has barely any lactose and has never screwed my stomach. This should also cut out lactaid pills. She explained that my body probably hit its threshold and because your immune system starts with proper gut health, any strain on your intestines is going to not only trigger your immune response and make it damn near impossible for your body to self correct when things go crazy.

So basically, my period blood is too acidic and it fucks up my vaginal pH...leading to the good bacteria to die and the bad bacteria to thrive...hence recurrent BV.
