Have you ever considered changing your name just because you don't like it? First/Middle

Do you think your family and friends would accommodate the change? Was it a hard transition? Did you regret it? I'd love to hear from people who have done this.

I always wanted a more interesting 1st name & a shorter last name but not enough to change it permanently, luckily when I got married I got the shorter last name (5 letters versus 11 letters) & we gave our daughter a unique 1st & middle (my husband’s son from his 1st marriage also has a unique name) 
My sister had a friend in high school who’s name was “Bruce Lee” he was Chinese & HATED being constantly compared to Martial Arts legend “Bruce Lee”, when he turned 18 he legally changed his name to “Spencer Lee”, he was really happy w/ the change, no idea how his parents felt about it, his friends all did fine w/ calling him the new name

personally no. i dont think thats a strong enough reason for me to do it. its a pretty big hassle to change your name and id only do it if it was mentally something that i needed, like it was a stress on my sense of identity

I love my name. If I hadn't gotten married, I would have changed my last name. Anything to get away from my father's name.

I said no but I realize I should have said yes. I was going to say I picked no because it was only about changing first/middle names and I want to change my last name... but then I remembered I want to change my last name into my middle one.
My father was abusive and I've really considered changing my last name so that I don't share it with him anymore, even know where I have to go and what I need to get it done. But I didn't want to switch to my mother's maiden name as it just... doesn't fit. And then my mum was reading this bloke's book and she told me he changed his last name into his middle one, and I thought that kinda worked perfectly for me.
So. Yes. I am going to get my name changed at some point, it's just my health prevents me from travelling to the right place I need to go to get it done. Maybe soon. I don't really feel like my original name anymore, you know? That's why I started seriously considering it.

When I was a kid I wanted to change my first name. I was obsessed with another name until I found out my bf back then cheated on me with someone who had that same name. Anyways, I’m happy with my name now, I’ve only met a handful of people who have the same name.

One of my sisters changed her name from Lisa to Lily, for personal reasons. 
She changed it like 5 years ago and I still call her Lisa. It hard, but I try to call her lily it just doesn’t feel natural tho.

I hated my name growing up and I’m still not fond of it. I thought about changing it to something similar that my parents were going to name me but I’ve just accepted it and I don’t think that’s a good enough reason to legally change your name.

I never really liked my name when i was growing up... but i always said if I could change it it would be either Morgan or my mothers middle name Shalay. 😌

I actually love my name because it's meaning is literally me! Also love my middle name as well because it's a family name and has been the middle name of the first born daughter for generations
