If you have or want to adopt, would you tell the kids they are adopted?

At what age would you tell them or why you would not tell them.

I would tell them they have a "tummy mommy" that wanted the best for them, explain any circumstances. I would want them to know. Maybe 6 years old?

i would tell the child as soon as they could understand so they don't grow up hating themselves or wondering why their parents got rid of them. Also if you waited to tell them for a long time it never goes well, but if you raise them knowing that that they were adopted they will understand your love for them

I was adopted and my parents read stories to explain. A story called Horrace was the main one. I had an understanding from as early as I could and I think that is really important :-)

My cousin was around 4 when she herself started telling us! We love her and she is a very happy teen 😊

When the child gets to a age that you feel that they can understand. It may not be the same age for every child because some grasp the concept faster and better than others. So it could be anywhere inbetween like 6 yrs to 10 yrs, that's a pretty good age range. But you shouldn't hide the truth from them. Cause if they find out and it doesn't come from you, it will be heartbreaking. But just because  they are adopted doesn't mean you love them any less. You just have to be open and honest with your child. I think most would understand.

I would tell them right from the beginning. It wouldn't be news to them. The story would just be more detailed as they got older. I am in a few wills that I would inherit their kids if certain parents died so I have given it a little thought. I cannot think of any reason why you wouldn't tell them right from the beginning.
