When to start semi solids

Hi 
Our doctor says no solids to the baby until 6 months
Only breastfeeding 
When can I start giving semi solids
My baby is 4.5 months

We got the go ahead at our 4 month check up. At first I was really hesitant because I just feel like she is growing up to fast and I want time to slow down. But she just stares at us while we eat so I gave in and gave her some. Our pediatrician gave us a list of veggies and fruit to try as well as cereal. So far we have tried sweet potatoes and oatmeal and she has really liked both!
My pediatrician recommended mixing it with more breast milk or formula to make it a runnier consistency so that it was more familiar to her to start out until she got used to the spoon.

My son’s doctor said 4 months he could start (he’ll be 5mo next week). I still haven’t fed him any solids because i don’t feel he’s ready. He definitely is interested in food but I’m waiting until he can sit up on his own and most likely will wait till six months regardless. I may try rice cereal just to help him with spit up and to fill him up more but haven’t decided on that 100% yet. Everyone is different. Just have to do what’s best for your family.

Doctor told me at 4 month check up that i can start with cereal at 5 months . but i already started ans he loves it .. but sense he is breastfeed,he doesnt take the bottle at all. i have to give it by an spoon.

My bubbas 4.5 months too! I’m starting him at 5 months. They say if they’re a big baby they may want to start earlier. My bubba was 9lbs 7oz when he was born and has stayed pretty big.

Baby girls doc told me to let her try out baby food at her 4 month appointment. I fed her once on Thursday & Friday of last week. She’s been extremely gassy & has only pooped twice since thursday of last week. It’s not even the same texture or color & it’s sooo much more.  She was pooping everyday about 4 times a day but it rarely would fill up her diaper. I know every baby is different but I can’t help but to be upset at her doctor idk why. I’ll definitely be waiting till 6 months now.

At our (2 weeks late bc of scheduling conflicts) 4 month appt the other day, the doctor said we can introduce rice cereal or oatmeal cereal, she even said avocado.

Your child should be able to sit up / hold themselves up well and also show an interest in food. Every baby is different so just observe yours and you’ll know when the time is right.
