Buying shoes?

Question

At what age did you start putting shoes on your babies? Obviously not to walk yet but to get them used to wearing them for when they do walk. My son is 5 months old and I wanted to get him a little pair of Nikes lol

I wouldn’t waste your money on Nike’s for a 5 month old lol but that’s just me. They’re unnecessary at that age and it’s better for them developmentally to learn to walk barefoot. Also, they grow out of them very fast so they’re not even going to still fit him by the time he’s walking. Our 10 month old walks but does not have shoes yet because she’s not walking in public places yet. We’ll be getting her shoes on her first birthday next month.

They say it’s better for their development if they learn to walk barefoot first ( not to say they can’t wear shoes before that,but for walking shouldn’t be the reason you buy them) because they can feel/have better contact with the floor and some other reasons I can’t remember.

My son has a few pair but only for fun lol they’re cute and I don’t like taking him in public without shoes on I just feel like it’s dirty lol he’s only 8 months so he doesn’t wear them to walk or anything

When it got too cold for her to just wear socks we got her some of the soft-sole kind. She was around 10ish months, I think.
