Anatomy Scan Experience?

We had our anatomy scan yesterday and it was only 5-10mins long. Our doctor didn’t take any measurements. But we saw our boy, saw his heart, bladder, liver. But nothing in depth and I’ve heard of others anatomy scans being a lot longer and more detailed with what they were looking at and checking. Like checking for all fingers/toes, the brain, etc. Our doctor said he’s healthy, but I just expected a more in depth appt. What was your experience?

It can be quick if baby cooperates. Just because they don't narrate everything they are doing doesn't mean they didn't look for everything.

Mine was closer to an hour. That sounds awfully short for an anatomy scan. They were supposed to measure like every bone and the brain and all that

That wasn't an anatomy scan then. The measurements are necessary. It takes about 30-45 minutes typically, sometimes longer.

Mine was about the same with my son. The only thing that took a bit was figuring out that he was a boy. He had his legs crossed for the whole scan. But all the other things were quick. With my daughter it was slightly longer but she moved a ton during the scan so they had to keep remeasuring. Sounds like you have a very healthy baby on your hands!!

Lucky, I went in and they scanned me for about an hour. Then a week later, my doctor says “I didn’t get a clear picture of the spine, come in for another one hour ultrasound.” I changed my doctor after that.

I just had mine on Monday! It was about 30 minutes but I think that’s because my baby could not keep still. Just to put it into perspective, the sonographer couldn’t even get a clear shot of him for us 😅  she measured his limbs, torso, checked out his heart, brain, and stomach. We saw that he was a boy for literally one second before he flipped aprons again lmao

Mine was 15. The tech knows what to look for so sometimes it just goes quick. They may not point everything out bc they are just trying to do their job
