What are your opinions on Music

Question

My husband thinks listening to music is bad and brings back memories of the past... I don’t see it that way I feel it’s something that’s in the mind if you let it remind you of the past. Is listening to music bad? I don’t see it affecting me in any negative way. I love music. But if I can’t listen to what music I want and be a Christian then idk..

Thank you!! I mean I listen to like love songs/ heartbreak songs. None of that stuff where they talk about drugs and calling women b*** just that deep emotional music but to me that somewhat motivates me not in a negative way. Growing up before I found god. I suffered from depression and other mental illness. Music is what kept me going! I can see what they mean by the mainstream stuff you hear on the radio and the heavy metal worshiping Satan I usually stay away from that stuff lol.

I totally get where your coming from, and I've asked my mom the same thing. She said listen to any music you love just dont let the music change the way you think or the way you do things. And if anyone including my husband, told me not to listen to music cause it remind them of the past id say, well then dont listen to it but i will bcuz i dont think of the past. I'm making new memories for this music. 
And i love the background with music and its just a part of who i am, if you dont like the song I'll skip it and listen to it when your not around but dont tell me not listen to music. I'd recommend doing something like skipping it till he is not around and blow your speakers once your alone haha jk not that loud. It doesnt mean your any less of a Christian just cause you love music. 😎

I understand what your husband means. Before I became christian I would listen to all types of music. Rap would make me want to dance provocatively and the lyrics just don't glorify God. I listened to heavy metal and a lot of it is satanic. I found the other day that the bassist from the band Gorrilaz is a satanist. You just have to be careful of what you're listening to because it can affect you. I guess it just all depends on what it maes you think or how it makes you act. Everytime I listened to heavy metal I would imagine myself getting into a fight lol. A little weird but it's true. God will convict you if it's wrong.

I love music! I went to a church for a while that said all secular music is bad and I would feel guilty listening to anything that wasn't Christian. I'm now at a place where I know that isn't true. I listen to a variety of music, just not anything super vulgar or derogatory. Christian music has its place, but there is nothing wrong with regular music too!
