5w6d ultrasound

Jasmine

So yesterday I went to the ER because I had a very small amount of pink discharge while wiping the day after sex. No cramping. My LMP was 3/15/18 which would put me at 5w6d yesterday. (Not sure when I ovulated) they checked my hcg and it was 3,333 which I was told was normal. The pink discharge has went away completely and I’m still not cramping. I never had red blood. I had an early ultrasound to make sure everything was okay and was told they only see my ges sac and yolk sac but no baby. They told me to prepare for a miscarriage. I’m devastated. Anyone have any insight? No signs of a mc. Bellow are my ultrasound results from the doctor

Get in with an OB/GYN office, dont go back to the ER for follow up care. The results say "uncertain viability " because even though all looks well at this time, you're still very early, too early to even see a fetal pole so they can't truly come out and say that everything looks fine. it's normal to not see a fetal pole this early on. you sound like you had normal early pregnancy spotting.

Spotting and light cramping in early pregnancy is 100% normal. Heavy bleeding and severe pain is not. During pregnancy your cervix is more sensitive so yes, the sex probably caused just mild spotting.

Thank you. I was not sure what the results meant. My ob said they can’t get me in until May 3rd so I have an appt then. I’m supposed to have bloodwork tomorrow to make sure my hcg is still doubling. Thank you for your help. I’ve been checking all day and no more spotting. I’m starting to think the sec may have triggered the pink discharge

UPDATE! So I was asked to come back to the ER to have my hcg re checked to make sure it doubled. (Reason because my OB can’t get me in at all until May 3rd) they just said my hcg came back and it doubled! I’m so happy. The doctor is saying he wants to have me do another ultrasound right now so I’m waiting on them to do it and see if we can see baby now. I should be 6w1d according to my LMP but it’s possible I could have ovulated late. I was only tracking ovulation with this app so I do not know the exact day I ovulated.

Had a repeat ultrasound and still couldn’t see baby but the ultrasound tech said she doesn’t know why the doc wanted to recheck so early. She said everything is in place and there are no abnormalities. She said my pregnancy looks normal and baby will show up in the next few weeks on ultrasound I’m just really early. My hcg doubles and I have no cramping or bleeding. I was very glad to here this!

Just because there’s no baby yet doesn’t mean there won’t be one in a week or two. You’re still early. Make an appointment with an OB for a follow up ultrasound. Spotting in early pregnancy does not always mean something is wrong. I bled with two of my healthy pregnancies. Good luck, sweetie!

That’s ridiculous that they’d tell you to prepare for a miscarriage this early on 😒 if you were like 9 weeks and they couldn’t see a baby then yeah something is wrong.. but it’s normal not to see anything at 5/6 weeks. So they basically can’t even make any comments yet. If your having no red bleeding and no really bad cramps then everything is most likely fine and you’ll see the baby on your next scan

I was like omg a miscarriage because I had pink discharge after sex. No red blood, no cramping, no pink discharge since then but they told me to prepare for a miscarriage because they didn’t see the baby yet. I was asking isn’t it possible that I could have ovulated late

My 6w ultrasound had a sac but no fetal pole or heart beatFollowed up at 8w and my little bellybean was fine with a HR of 153. I’m now 19w and he’s doing perfectly fine.

At my 5 weeks check up that's all they seen was a yolk sac. I am now 29 weeks and 2 days. Don't listen to what they say. Definitely go to a normal OB/GYN.

I would definitely get in to see a OBGYN as soon as you are able. I had light pink discharge early in my pregnancy and only saw a gestational sac and yolk on ultrasound and I am now 18 weeks with a healthy baby girl. I wouldn't think the worst just yet. Discharge and light spotting is normal during early pregnancy unless accompanied by severe cramps and bright red bleeding. Prayers being sent your way!

Thank you soo much. I have no signs of a mc so I’m going to try and stay positive that a fetal pole with be present on my next ultrasound. I have been resting and drinking tons of water today

Definitely and push your fluids! I understand how scary it can be and it's hard not to worry, but my fingers are crossed for you. 🤞 My doctor told me it's actually fairly common and that most of the time patients come back a week to two weeks later and there is a fetal pole. I'm feeling very optimistic for you!!

Thank you! I’m going to relax and remember I’m still very early

I was in this exact same situation!!! Don’t freak out! Drs jump the gun, it’s so hard to see a baby at that point. I was 6 weeks with levels at 32,000 and they couldn’t see a baby. Waited a week and went back in and found baby with a strong heartbeat. Obviously I’m not a doctor and I don’t know your complete situation but don’t give up hope! I’m now 15 weeks with my strong healthy baby.

My son wasn’t visible at 5 weeks 5 days.. they only saw the yolk sac, a week later my obstetrician did a follow up ultrasound and there he was. (I had spotting with him as well)

this could go either way i feel like. at almost 6 weeks you should definitely be able to see some sort of evidence of a baby. i saw baby at 5 weeks, 2 days. but your hcg is normal and what you described sounds like implantation bleeding. so it could be a miscarriage OR maybe you ovulated later and arent actually as far along as you thought. either way, best of luck to you!

I just had a re check and my hcg numbers definitely doubled! They want to do a ultrasound re check today instead of 14 days

with your hcg levels the way they are, i'm more inclined to lean towards that possibility
