How does a dad not pay child support?

I hear many people say their kids father doesn't pay child support but they are able to file taxes? except the money will go to the mom but if he is working and able to file wouldn't they be able to collect child support from his checks? Sorry I don't know how this works, does the dad have to send money or..?

My situation is the opposite. My husband pays over $600 a month in child support (for just one child, mind you), doesn't even get to see the kid (supposed to be every other weekend but the mother keeps the kid from him which honestly I don't mind, the less we deal with her crazy ass the better) and isn't allowed to claim him on taxes so he gets screwed every which way.

In my state of a father doesn’t pay court ordered child support they are arrested. Did these women who say the father isn’t paying actually go to court to get monthly child support determined and approved by a judge?

The taxes will go or partial to the payee (child’s mother) and if he works some of the  paycheck also gets taken away to go to child support.

I'm divorced. My ex is supposed to pay me $850 a month in child support. The state attorney general doesn't have any of his works tax info since it's a new business and has been trying to get it for months. Without that they cannot remove money from his checks. Also, it's up to the IRS not to attorney general to remove tax return money and put it towards child support. Some times they don't catch it. Especially if the guy doesn't claim paying child support on his taxes. Which my ex doesn't. He owes me almost $10,000 and nothing is happening to him because of lack of paperwork and him slipping through the cracks.

I think the back child support is what they take off the taxes. You still get money taken out of your checks but when tax time come around and you owe child support, They take it out.

normally unless he signed the birth certificate, you have to go through court get paternity proven. then file for child support, and they will take it out of his paychecks monthly if he has a job that's NOT under the table(if that's the case he could owe thousands for not paying) and if he continues to not pay he could be jailed.
