Do you think it’s the parents responsibility to have funds available (or purchase long term care insurance) for nursing home care, a nurse to check on them daily, respite care or anything similar? Where I live it’s currently about $11,000 a month for a nursing home.

Or are kids obligated to take care of their parents somehow? Keeping in mind if the parents don’t have a plan or money to pay for care.. sometimes people have to quit their jobs to care for their parents.

Bonus question: are there cultural differences in how these sorts of things are viewed?
