I think I could forgive, but I would never forget. Even if we decided on staying together and going to a councillor, I don’t think I could ever get past it. I would be paranoid all the time and it would eat away at me.

DO TEACHERS FORGIVE FOR CHEATING?? NOOOO.......
If you have kids with that person you shouldn't either ... the CHEATER was not thinking about them when he was fooling around. You are strong you can do it....  
If the cheater was the woman then if the guy leaves you it's your fault... let your ex see the kids... don't be those women that don't let the dad see the kids because you are bitter. 
If you forgive them, then never bring it up even if you guys argue. Because as soon as you decided to forgive and decided to stay together that should stay in the past. BUT PLEASE DON'T GO CHEAT AND USE THE "PAST CHEATING" AS AN EXCUSE. 
CHEATERS HAVE A CHOICE... CHEAT OR NOT TO CHEAT. 
JUST MY OPINION. NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE.
