So I got my industrial pierced a little over 2 weeks ago and yesterday I woke up to it being red and it throbbed literally all day. Never done it that bad before. Today there is yellow drainage and it’s still red and swollen. My piercer thinks it’s just irritated. Any ways to relieve pain and treat and/or avoid infection?

I can already see the irritation bumps forming. I would go and see a reputable piercer and your may have to switch this for two separate piercings. ears are not all made the same, very rarely does the straight bar work. industrials almost always have large bumps as they were not bent or made for the shape of a normal ear.

Industrials are such a bitch to heal. Mine was so sore and irritated for the first like 4 months honestly. I’ve had mine a year and it’s finally to the point it’s healed. They take forever to heal and it’s annoying but just be sure to keep it clean and do all you can to avoid sleeping on it.

Crush a tylenol and mix it with a few drops of water and make a paste and put it on there. I did this with my helix piercing and in a week it was cleared up.

Teatree oil or wipes from the body shop will help clear up any infections. Honestly works miracles

My piercer told me they pierce the industrial with two pieces of jewelry until it heals because the constant tugging and moving of the long bar causes tiny tears in the skin and makes infection and keloids more of a possibility. Maybe see if switching it to two pieces of jewelry is an option with your piercer?
