Luna Jayde

Kenzie

Finally time to tell my birth story (-:

Luna was due April 26th, but that day was super uneventful so I was convinced I’d have to be induced.

I woke up the next morning (6am) nauseous with period like cramps and didn’t really think much of it, until I lost a blood streaked glob of mucus. I’d been losing parts of my mucus plug for a couple weeks but never had blood in it before so I just had a feeling something was happening finally. I tried to go back to sleep after that but started getting contractions that were about 30min apart so needless to say I couldn’t sleep and I woke up my fiancé so we could head to the hospital (9am, contractions were about 4/5 min apart at this point)

We arrived at the hospital and I was admitted since I was overdue and contracting, they broke my water, and basically everything went downhill from there. I had an epidural when I hit 5cm and it only worked on the one side and then just went away completely in a matter of two hours or so, so I had to get it redone. The second anesthesiologist was an angel, I’m 99% sure the first one had no clue what she was doing. So I labored on until about 8cm and then I just felt so so much pain in my right hip and right side of my butthole and no one knew why at this point. I started pushing at 10 cm, for three hours, and she had only moved to a +1 stage. We tried the hands and knees position and so many other things tbh and she was not budging. Her heart rate sky rocketed to 200bpm and her head was starting to swell, so after that we decided it would be best to have a c section, which I was horrified of to begin with. They used my epidural line to insert the lidocaine which freaked me out considering I was still feeling things from the epidurals, but this actually took effect and stuck luckily so I wouldn’t have to have another needle in my spine.

So I was actually freaking out at this point because I was just still so scared I’d feel it for some reason, but we got through the first part, they discovered she was face up instead of down, and lodged in my hip (why the second epidural “wore off”. So needless to say even if I kept pushing for days she would have never came out.

Our sweet baby Luna was born at 2:59am on April 28th after almost 21 hours of labor. Her dad (my fiancé) cut the cord and brought her to see me, but around this time I began to get feeling back in my feet so I was freaking out bad, so he had to take her out to see our family while the angel anesthesiologist gave me something to calm down and I pretty much fell asleep until it was over. It was slightly traumatic but sooooo worth it 💓💕💓💕
