How much is too much?

How much milk do I need in my freezer before I should start donating?
My daughter is 4 months old and exclusively getting breast milk. I breastfeed her 4-6 times a day during the week and she gets 4-4oz bottles at daycare. She is staying on her growth curve and her doctor is happy with her weight. My issue here is freezer space. She takes 4 bottles at daycare but I usually only pump 3 times and still get more than I send with her. I am usually adding 20-30 ounces to my freezer every weekend. My husband is concerned about putting too much in the freezer and no longer having room for food. I love my freezer stash and I love watching it grow, but I know he is right and it isn’t all needed. What do I do?

It’s difficult to figure how much you’ll need and use. For me, I had a huge stash and actually stopped pumping and breastfeeding my youngest daughter at around 10 months. I had enough saved up to last her until around 14 months and than transitioned her to cow’s milk. I still had a bunch left over, but by that time it was kind of old and ended up tossing it all out (it pains me to say that). However, we have a large freezer chest so storage wasn’t that much of an issue. I recommend purchasing one if you don’t have one already. Breast milk will also last longer in one of those versus a regular freezer.

I’m right there with ya. After 2 babies and having such a huge production my husband and I finally bought a deep freezer just for breastmilk. Here I am on baby 3 and I’m 7 weeks PP and already have a 1k oz stash. 
I start donating when I have enough milk to make it to 1 year. Like example. Right now to get my son to a year I need just over 14000 oz. I produce around 80 oz a day. When I get close enough to that I will start donating. As he gets older my need for more milk gets less so I can donate more. 
I will add that I only keep such a large stash bc hubby and I like our kids very close in age. I’m usually pregnant again before my current baby is a year old and I lose my milk when I get pregnant. So I always keep enough milk to get me to where I need.
