job advice

my husband and I recently bought our first home and at the time he lost his client as he was self employed. soon after he started working at a well known famous large consulting firm. well he's been working 16 hr shifts and his manager refuses to pay overtime. I keep telling him to just quietly deal with it until the probation period is over but he's not one to stay quiet. he also has a 1 1/2 hr commute each way so now he's found temporary housing during the week at his own expense as the company won't pay for it but they pay for the staff that they fly in. I can understand him but I also think sometimes you just need to suck it up and deal with it to keep the job. any advice? he makes good money also
