Period question

So I normally have really heavy periods, but I started bleeding today, & I put a tampon in, well I went to change it about 3-1/2 / 4 later & usually it would be covered and or I would be leaking out, well it wasn’t covered, there was some red & some brown and there was blood here & there on the tampon but not the amount I’d usually bleed especially in the beginning of my period.

Edit to add; I’m supposed to start my period the 2nd of May..

Any advise?
