Does it hurt to put in a tampon for the first time?

I’m going swimming with my class this week and I have my period now. So I am considering to start using tampons but I want to know like does it hurt, how long can they stay in etc.

If you're on your period right now, start practicing with a tampon as soon as you can, so that it'll be easy peasy when you go swimming.

It won’t hurt, but putting it in might feel uncomfortable for the first time. Taking it out doesn’t hurt either, but I always found taking it out to be a very odd feeling.

I wore my first one to go swimming and it was a little weird. If you can, wear it for a while before you go in or wear one for a day. I put it in wrong the first time and I could feel it every time I sat down, so it was hard to have fun and swim. So yeah, just try it out first and see if you can get used to it before you're active
