Tips?

Not sure where to put this.. but any tips for a first time waitress?

having a great attitude no matter how you may actually be feeling or a customer treats you because you may not realize it but your tables around you are also paying attention to how you react to situations. I know for me when I go and tip a waitress if she has been great with another customer even if they are difficult I'll tip more. also being respectful with yes ma'am and sir type stuff. Idk those are just things I have done that have helped with waitressing and tips and all that

Know the menu. Study it. Know what comes on - or with everything
Always smile 
Write people’s orders down (don’t try to do it from memory)
Always check back after people have had a chance to try their meal (to make sure everything turned out okay) - this is customary in the US (not sure about elsewhere). 
Stay on top of drink refills

If you can, write things down. Even if it's just one person, you want to be able to put in the order correctly, and no one likes when the waitress has to come back and ask again. If you have a big party, ask first how tickets will be , and write clearly who is on what ticket, otherwise it may get very confusing. And honestly, some people are just rude, expect perfection from servers, and it can be impossible to please them, just do your best and move on from people like that.

Just be really nice and friendly. Eye contact, smile, be welcoming. Apologize for inconveniences or things they aren’t happy about no matter who is wrong. Your personality/attitude is really the most important thing in my opinion.

Have a positive attitude with a welcoming smile. 
Be consistent and confident. 
And a tip out of respect: if you wait on a couple be sure to greet the woman first. Or vice versa if you were a male. ☺

Nerves of steel. You're going to realize quickly how rude the population can be. So prepare yourself. But you'll also meet some of the nicest people you won't forget either!
