so confused

So i started my period 3 days early right.. So before my period came on that day i decided to take an ovulation test and yes indeed i was. But when i went to wipe i notice my period came on. Ladies I've been trying to catch my ovulation peak for 4 months and when i finally catch it my period decided to come on wtw. . Can you still ouvlate and have a period?? Just to be curious i took another test and its still blinking a smiley face. Could the test be wrong? I need answer i know i went without a period in March. AF CAME ON THE 5TH OF APRIL
