Should I move out of my city into a town?

So me and my boyfriend want to buy a apartment together (he’s 29 and I’m 23) but where we live in London it costs like 400,000 for a 2 bed apartment that isn’t even nice 😓

We have both got deposit money saved plus his mum and my step mum are going to give us some money towards it too

If we move just outside of London to Hertfordshire to a town like Hertford we can afford a two bedroom cottage for like 350,000 that is lovely and would have like a garden and some even have garages too

I’m not sure if it makes more sense to do that? Especially if we want to have kids soon and knife crime in London has gone up etc

Right now I can’t drive (I work full time atm and I’m doing my masters degree so I have no time to learn but as soon as I get time I will do it)

the job I have and any future job I have has to be in London as there is more demand for what I do

My boyfriend also will always work in London

the trains into London aren’t very reliable from there 🙄

the other thing is my step mum can’t drive (due to health issues) so for her to see me it would be hard

I would like to be able to see her a few times a week as my boyfriend is a police officer and works lates or night shifts quite a bit

I think part of me is just worried as I lived out of London before in Kent a few years ago and hated it because it was too dull and quiet 😂 plus it was racist

I just don’t want that to happen again

I can’t stay in the exact area I live in right now because my ex is crazy and obsessed with me and I’ve had to call the police and have a restraining order against him 🤷🏽‍♀️

I can’t tell if I’m just scared of the change of leaving London or not 🙈
