Restoring Breastmilk

Hi all,

My LO is 6 weeks old today. I exclusively formula fed from the time he was born, but am hoping to restore my breastmilk. My right breast is still leaking, but only a little bit. My left breast doesn’t seem to be producing anymore.

My little guy has been having a hard time digesting his milk and now is running a small fever, has a runny nose/congested, and a rash on his back. We went to urgent care today and the doctor said it was nothing to worry about unless the fever broke 100 and we couldn’t get it back down. He said there isn’t much they can do at this age. I feel like maybe one of the only things I can do for him is feed him breastmilk! I originally chose not to due to issues I had with my daughter when she was a newborn, but I think it’ll be best for my son to get all the nutrients he needs from my milk.

How can I reproduce and restore my milk? Also, does anyone know where I can take a breastfeeding class or see a lactation consultant? I have Kaiser insurance. I didn’t successfully feed my daughter as she wouldn’t latch so I really would have no idea what I’m doing. Thank you in advance!
