Transfer 1 or 2?!!

I would love twins but im scared of the risks to me and the babies of having twins! What do i do?!

My Dr said 40% chance with one 60% with 2. we did 2 and got one baby. 2nd time around transferred 1 and it failed. 3rd time transferred 2 and it failed. Doing my 4th IVF this month transferring 2.

I work with someone who did 1 and it turned into twins anyways and she was so tiny they were worried for her but she did amazing. You’ll be so in love either way

Our clinic didn’t give us a choice. If we had a healthy blastocyst on day 5 they would only transfer 1. I’m under 35, healthy and it was my first ivf. Depends on your results and diagnosis.

I’m 38 and have been going back and forth whether to transfer 1 or 2 also. I really think I’m leaning towards 1 because I’m scared of the higher risk, pre term labor, and any medical complications. I know that can happen in any case but i know the risks are higher with multiple births. My husband and i decided we will do what the doctor recommends.

I transferred 2 and I'm having one baby. I would hate to know what would have happened inly transfering one.

some of the comments are absolutely crazy on here. I definitely understand the desire to make sure you get pregnant and even the small part of you that thinks the idea of twins is so stinkin adorable (I'm right there with you). on the other hand, they have guidelines out now for how many to transfer based on a woman's age and risk factors. They did a recent study which showed shockingly that the rate of death during pregnancy had actually gone up in the United States over the past five to ten years, where the rate of death in third world countries has gone down. Two or more babies increases your risk of complications not just for you but also for the baby. Women get higher rates of preeclampsia which can lead to seizures and death, higher rates of gestational diabetes, etc. Babies are way more likely to be born early wish can mean that their lungs are underdeveloped and they are more vulnerable to infection. this is where you just have to listen to your doctor based on your age and risk factor level. If they recommend transferring more than one is because they still think you will only get pregnant with one. A healthy singleton pregnancy is the goal
