How did you pick your doctor?

We have met with one doctor, who is a part of a big practice with 6 doctors and 3 different locations. She was fine, very straight forward, but not warm at all... We’ve done all of our testing and would have to wait a month if we wanted to see her to go over the results... So we chose to meet with a different doctor at the same practice to go over everything and come up with a plan since we don’t want to miss a cycle waiting for her....
We also have an appointment for a consult with a different doctor. He has great reviews and is a 1 man practice... We had to wait 3 months for an appointment with him... 
Would you go with a big practice or small?

May I ask where are you located? Coz you’re description similar to my RE lol. My RE is very reserved at the first appt, but we really don’t care, as long as we have a baby. 
My opinion is always choose bigger practice. Reason is, usually these group of doctors have state of the art lab and good embryologist. Usually for 1 doctor practice, she/he has to send out for certain testing. 
But it’s personal preference as long as the outcome is well!

I chose my doctor based on our doctors’s referrals (including my OB and husbands urologist. They both refered the same practice). I also chose our practice based on proximity (7 minutes from our house). That allowed us to do the semen analysis collection at home and made ivf much easier since i was going sometimes to the doctor every day.

Go with who you feel most comfortable with. It could end up being a long journey of testing and trying different things and failing. You’ll potentially spend a lot of time with them and have emotional moments. I think it is really important that you feel they are personally invested in you and that they explain things where you can understand your options.
I went to a fertility branch of a major hospital system. There were several doctors and lots of nurses. I didn’t get along with the nurse and felt like the doctor had no investment in me personally. I waited three months to see them and had lots of tests run in that facility.
I ended up after four months of spinning my wheels with them seeking out another doctor. It’s a small one person clinic. The doctor asked far more questions than the first, seems invested in my personal story, and has given me a good understanding of what my options are and what the costs and expectations are. 
Could I have found that at a big hospital? Probably. But I found it with this doctor. My advice is that the type of facility doesn’t matter but your connection does. I knew at my first appointment at the big hospital I didn’t feel that and I should have looked for another doctor immediately instead of trying to make it work.

Idk why people want a warm Drs...  Drs are analytical, science driven people, I don’t think they are going to excel in the “warm” category. Nurses are meant to be warm, sure, but not the drs. How’s their stats? I’d check reviews on fertilityiq.com and the SART website.
