Has anyone started potty training?

Question

My daughter has shown interest in the potty. She will go sit on the potty chair. Her pediatrician suggested we could start trying to potty train at 18 months. That seems at bit too young to me, but I have read other cultures potty training their children at even younger ages. What is your opinion on potty training?

My dr told me it’s best to wait till after his 2 nd birthday by then he would be able to understand the feeling of needing to go. Right now his in his “No” stage so I’m saving myself for when things calm down

Yes my daughter has peed and pooped in the big girl potty multiple times, then she got really sick with hand foot and mouth and we took a break. We will start again tomorrow as she has started asking to use the big girl potty again!

I brought the potty out when we were going diaperless to heal a bad rash and he really enjoyed sitting on it, so much so that he peed in it several times, however he also peed all over everything else, so I think it was coincidental, he loved the praise he received though! Since then we leave it in the bathroom, he sits on it sometimes but rarely diaperless, I don’t think he has much control yet, but I’m hoping to keep pumping it up so in a few months it won’t be such a foreign concept!

thinking about buying one soon, read online that by 18 months they can start holding pre for longer so maybe you can start but don't rush them. that's what I think is the most important thing. My mom thinks I need to start and I keep telling her no.

Actually just tried putting her on the potty for first time this morning and she cried. Then before her bath tonight I talked about it and she showed more interest but wanted to get off right away and then stood in the tub and peed while looking at me. She gets it but don’t think she’s interested yet. I’ll keep trying but not gonna push it. She almost always wakes up from naps and sleeping through the night with a dry diaper so many people have suggested putting her on the potty right when she wakes up.

I have been sitting her on the potty before baths for the last few months, she doesn’t really understand it yet but I figure we will get her a seat soon just so she gets used to it.

She’s ripping her diaper off every time she goes #2.. so we will be starting.

Not really. The chairs are in site but I don't stress them. When it's bath time I'll run the water and take the diaper off and let them sit on the toilets and press the noise button. They haven't gone pee yet but it has been helping them feel more comfortable. When they show signs I'll implement it a bit more.

I'm going to start next month. If he's ready, that'll be great. I'd like to have him out of diapers by the time my second arrives in September. If he's not ready, that's fine too and we'll wait.

Haha well he always ends up staring at me while I go to the bathroom so I always tell him this is where big kids go potty, and soon you’ll go here like mommy and daddy. That’s as far as I’ve gone though, and probably won’t do more until he’s 2+ unless he shows some interest in trying it.
