My son won't latch and I've been pumping but I don't seem to get much at each pumping. Any tips on how to increase supply?

I’m a FTM but from what I’ve read or saw other moms suggest the only way to increase your supply is to pump more. Itsa supply and demand type thing, the more you pump the more your body thinks you need so the more it will produce. I think pumping every couple hours for 20 or so minutes on each boob is what I’ve seen people suggest. Also to pump for 5 minutes longer after you think your breast is empty.. mind you I can never tell if my breast is empty. Hopefully that was some help, I’m working on building my supply up myself, it’s not as easy as it seems. Also very time consuming 😩

Let me start by saying every person is different and there is no magic trick. It can take a lot of work but the best thing is to not stress about how much you aren’t pumping and focus on how much you are. at the end of a session instead of thinking I only pumped 2 ounces etc that’s not even enough for a bottle try to see it as that’s 2 less ounces of formula baby will get and be proud of how much you pump. And for me pumping more and more often doesn’t increase my supply I pretty much get the same amount wether I pump 4 times in a 24 hour period or if I pump 6. I don’t feel full or engorged until it’s been more than 12 hours (I don’t wake up in the middle of the night and try to sleep in on weekends). The only thing that truly makes a difference for me in supply is water tons and tons and tons of water and Gatorade. Lactation cookies, flax seed and brewers yeast smoothies, oatmeal, fenugreek are all things I’ve tried that some have increased supply with but it didn’t effect me it’s all just trial and error and finding out what works for you. There are two companies that have amazing reviews for helping supply but I haven’t tried any products yet I’ll probably be ordering some soon. Legendairy milk and milky mama incase you’re interested
