Discipline Someone Else’s Child

Okay, assume you’re babysitting for a friend/family member. Do you enforce the same rules and tactics of discipline on the other child as you would your own?

Meaning: as general as a time out or as serious as a spanking if the situation calls for such.

Assume the parent gave zero guidance on how to handle the situation, what do you do?

*this is not a debate on whether spanking should or should not be implemented in general*

Personally, I wouldn’t spank their child unless giver permission to do so before hand, and it would only be under serious circumstances. But I would, however, give a slightly-harder-than-a-tap on the hand or mouth should they deserve it.

I also would give permission to have my discipline tactics enforced on my own child at someone else’s house.
