Is $350 a reasonable charge for cleaning only when a tenate moves out? Everything was very clean except some trash left in basement, nothing big to haul, everything was even swept, vacuumed, moped... were in Ohio

I’ve never been charged for cleaning, the security deposit is for damages or if the apartment was extra dirty but other than that I don’t believe it’s common practice to charge them for cleaning.

Unless you didn’t have a security deposit, this is ridiculous. If you didnt have a security deposit it’s probably because they just want to find some reason to fine yoy

Our last house deducted $75 from our deposit to clean the carpets. Other than that we’ve never been charged a cleaning fee. Unless the house was a total disaster that seems high. Usually they put the charge in the lease somewhere so that it isn’t a surprise though.

$350 for a lottle bit of trash in the basement? Everything else was cleaned up so why would you charge that much? Plus that's what the security deposit is for.

I wouldn't charge anything! they left it clean and without damage. As a landlord it is you responsibility to have the place cleaned between tenants! you have to expect normal wear and tear and that your expense to absorb

that's what the deposit is for. unless they did major damage that costed more than the deposit then yes (if 350 is accurate amount of damage over the deposit) otherwise no. I could see you charging them if you gave the deposit back before you knew how messy it was and that 350 is the deposit amount or lower.

I've never been charged for cleaning when I move out if an apartment. 
I've had my security deposit partially deducted to cover some cleaning costs (had replace a window blind, replace the stove top covers). But that was itemized and clearly stated in the lease I signed.

Any landlords here?
