Yes it does exist in some countries (others actually treat women worse than men for the same crime) but it shouldn't exist, if you had ten people committing the same crime they should all be treated equally.

Yes it exists, it’s wrong and it should be equal consequences for men and women. Saying that, if I were a criminal and about to be sentenced, I’m sure I’d be grateful for it 😂😂😂😂

Absolutely! My mom has been absent from my life since I was 4 and has only paid about $100 in child support (I’m 20 now). The state didn’t bother going after her until recently, and before they went to arrest her they CALLED HER AND SAID THEY WERE COMING WITH A WARRANT.🙄 So obviously she fled the state, and she is no longer being pursued. If my dad had done this, he would have been in the state prison.

I said no because there are women who commit horrendous crimes and are not given the appropriate sentence. I heard a story where a woman raped a little boy, almost a preteen maybe, and he was charged for rape. Another story about how a girl tried to kill her boyfriend and she got off the hook because she was a promising student and the courts through the boyfriend's case out the window. Fake rape cases that result in ruining other's livelihoods. A woman can murder her SO and be given a shorter sentence. 
Probably the central belief behind the chivalry thesis is that women can't handle the punishments they deserve.
