This is the name we love, so please no other suggestions we just really need help on the spelling.

i would pronounce these two differently. i’d pronounce maclan as much-clan and macklin as spelled mack-lin. so depending on which way you’d want it pronounced alters my vote lol

I think Macklan would be the best spelling. 
I find the -an much more attractive and dignified looking than the -in, but I agree that Maclan may sometimes be pronounced as muh-CLAN. 
So keeping the ck that clarifies pronunciation and adding the an that lends it the extra dignity and elegance seems like the best of both worlds, to me!
