Cyst and the struggles that follow (a little TMI)
So last May I went to the ER after constant heavy bleeding for a month and a half straight. Following an ultra sound and a doctor's appointment at a women's hospital I ended up back in the ER with a 10cm cyst on my ovary. Whose pain I had been brushing off for months. (So seriously if things are off go to a doctor!!) After having surgery I also stop using birth control that was making my mental health and migraine issues much worse (implant) but I was still in some pain, which I again spent a few months not dealing with since I have issues with endometriosis, I figured that was causing the pain. Once it got bad enough to begin effecting my ability to live life my boyfriend dragged me to a gynecologist to confirm there was nothing more serious and upsetting going on. Following another ultrasound and lots of pelvic exams they decided my best course of action was more birth control and physical therapy for my very tense pelvic floor. After just one appointment and a thorough look over of my ultrasound i've found out that a great deal of my pain is due to a massive amount of scar tissue that has formed from surgery and ruptured cysts.
I feel as though sharing this journey is very important. People don't talk much about pain in the reproductive system, cysts, or even having physical therapy for the pelvic floor. Pay attention to what your body is telling you. It can dramatically change things in your life. All of this scar tissue has effected my future ability to have children and my ability to work consistently.
