Baby born!
Our sweet boy was born at 40+1 the day my mom was supposed to fly back home! We were losing hope he would be born while she was here but at 4:30 in the morning I woke up to contractions and discovered my bloody show. I tried to lay back down and shower but neither helped so I decided to call the on call doctor and he said to come in and get checked. I had gone to L&D; on Friday night and was only 1-2 cm dilated. Got there and I was 2cm so they said I could bounce on a birth ball and try and dilate more. 1 hour later, I was at a 3 and they decided to keep me. Holy crap though, I was not prepared for how bad the contractions would be. If my husband wouldn’t have been behind me and rubbing my back I would have gone crazy. I got pain meds via IV as soon as they would let me and by the time I was at a 4, the doctor said I could get the epidural. Get the epidural y’all. Don’t be a hero. Jumped from 4 to 6 in a hour and a half then a 7-10 in 45 minutes. From the time I woke up to when baby was born my labor was 14 hours but it felt like 4. I was so tired with the IV meds then with the epidural. I did start feeling contractions in my lower stomach/lower back the last two hours but when it came time to push it helped me know when. And pushing was such a relief. It gave me something to focus on other than my contractions and I was able to put all my light into them. I got a 2nd degree tear and a bilateral labia something, but so far it hasn’t hurt too much (compared to active labor). Funny story, we did skin to skin right after he was out and he pooped all over me and himself! I joke that he marked his territory😂 I wish I could say what helped start labor but the day before we just stayed home and sat on the couch and watched movies all day. We are so in love with our sweet boy and he was worth every bit of pain and worry!

My mom was able to change her flight to the next morning. It was such a blessing to have her here!
