How do talk to your partner about sex?

Does anyone else struggle with talking to your partner about sex? I mean I don’t want to hurt his feelings so I’m not exactly sure how to talk to him without crushing his ego. My husband is a very sweet man but when it comes to bedroom stuff he is very vanilla and I’m like wild cherry. So very different. Which I celebrate our differences but when it comes to sex my needs are just not met. I’ve tried to talk to him before but always comes out like I’m nagging or criticizing him. If you have any tips I’m more then will to hear what works.
