my gyno gave me a progesteron gel for my breasts bc i have an hormonal imbalance, its been almost a month since and my period was expected to come yesterday, it usually comes a day late but im wondering, can applying progesteron on top of my breasts cause me to get a late period or mess my cycle?

Yes. Progesterone is the pregnancy hormone so when you're pregnant your progesterone levels increase and that's what would stop your uterine lining from shedding if you did get pregnant. Its also how the mini-pill works (progesterone only pill). You are applying it topically, but small amounts will be absorbed systemically (into your blood) and could delay your period. Just remember it's not birth control though so don't treat it as such. And if this continues or if you're worried at any time it's always a good idea to call your doctor or pharmacist to make sure everything is going normally. The tube of medication may also have a list of side effects as well.
