IUD and UTI

Did anyone ever get recurring uti’s with their iud? I had ParaGard for about a year and was on antibiotics three separate times for uti’s. I had never had a uti before the iud. I am with the same partner before and after the iud insertion so the uti’s couldn’t have been because of a new partner. I have done some research and there are a few medical studies that show a link but my doctor was pretty hesitant to believe my copper iud had anything to do with my reoccurring uti’s.

Ultimately, I got it removed because even if it wasn’t causing the uti’s, the bleeding was still extremely heavy after a year of having the iud and I could not deal! The cramps got way better after switching to pads but it was kind of uncomfortable to use pads with such a heavy flow.

I’m wondering if anyone had a similar experience? Thanks for reading!
