Why do I keep getting Yeast Infections and BV?!?
I apologize for how long this is but please help...
For the past two years I’ve had at least 10 yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis 3 times. I never had either up until 2 years ago. The first yeast infection was HORRIBLE!!!!! But now when I get them they’re not as bad, just usually uncomfortable/itchy enough to catch my attention and get to the doctor before it gets too bad.
The three times I’ve had BV I guess my yeast infections haven’t been cleared up by the antibiotics all the way? and they turn into bacterial vaginosis and I have to get MORE antibiotics. It’s a very long/uncomfortable process that I’m tired of dealing with.
Ive tried everything. Special soaps, washing excessively “down there” (never UP in there btw), then tried not washing as excessively because washing too good can actually make it worse, I make sure to get out of my workout clothes ASAP, I’m a healthy person, I exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, don’t smoke, and drink occasionally, I’ve tried probiotic vitamins, literally everything everyone suggests to try, I’ve tried.
I’ve had doctors tell me “it’s just something some women have to deal with” but that’s not a good enough answer for me. I’ve had others tell me it could be genetic because my mom used to have a similar problem and never found a solution, but as soon as she hit menopause they all stopped... I’m getting tired of constantly being worried that I’m doing something to trigger these, getting yeast infections every three months, and sometimes telling my boyfriend to stop during sex because it’s uncomfortable (we haven’t been able to have sex for probably about a month because of this most recent one and I’ve already been to the doctor for antibiotics which didn’t really help at all).
Does anyone have any advice or anything I should ask my OBGYN about when I go to see her next month? I’ve read birth control can help fix a hormone imbalance that might cause these two things. I’m not on birth control nor have I ever taken it, so maybe it could help? Does anyone have experience with that helping? Any advice would be so helpful! Thanks in advance!
