Breastfeeding affected by period?

Hey y’all my LO is almost 5mo and is exclusively breastfeed. After bleeding the entire 6weeks postpartum I started my regular monthly!! Super odd to me as most all my momma friends said theirs never came back until they weaned their LO...

I’ve also noticed my supply severely struggles right before and during my cycle.. super annoying especially since my supply is not strong as is! I do lots of things like tons of water lactation cookies and herbal supplements (feeding skin to skin and insurance pumping) but still I make almost half of what he takes.. is their a hormone relation here that I need to talk to someone about? Not sure what to do.. TIA
