What’s it like to turn 18?

I’m 16 and I’m soooo looking forward to being 18 to be an official adult, but being an adult comes with a lot of responsibilities so is being 18 really the IT thing ? How did you feel when you became an official adult ?

Nothing changed. Just because you turn 18 it doesn’t mean you’re on your own and officially adulting. Becoming an adult is more of a gradual process.

for me 18 was no different than any other age.
at 12 I built my first computer. at 16 I was still in school,  with a part time job and had my own car,  bought with my money. 18 I was still in school,  busting my ass and juggling a full time job at night. 21 I was still studying my ass off, getting degrees and certifications, while still juggling a full time job at night.
at 28 I opened my own business and at 29 I got married. at 32 I got pregnant. I'm 34, and thinking of retiring early, because I am where I need to be and have more than most accumulate in a lifetime of working non stop. 
guess I didn't have much of a teenage life, other than a little hiatus I took around my early 20s, when I decided to get my bartender license and do some fun time bartending at my local strip club.

Nothings really different except you can buy lottery tickets and now if you ever get in trouble with the law it’s a lot more of a consequence lol more lookin forward to turning 21 since I can’t go into a simple bar with my boyfriend for some food or ever go out to have a good time.

I personally didn’t feel any different. I moved out at 17 so the only difference for me was I could buy lotto tickets and cigarettes (I don’t smoke) lol

You’re just accountable for more things and have more responsibilities. Also more freedom

You are 18. Nothing magical happens. You can vote, move out, sign contacts, do adult thinhs but nothing happens. It's like being 15 on Tuesday and wake up Wednesday and turning 16. Nothing happens. You don't feel suddenly I'm an adult and have a personality change. Same thing for turning 20 or 30.

Turning 18 doesn’t mean youre an adult. In my eyes being an adult means having your own place, paying your own bills, having a job, a car, and paying for everything yourself without relying on parents. I dont even remember to be honest. The only thing that changed for me was that I could legally buy cigarettes. That’s it 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s not really different until you move out. I moved out 4 months after turning 18 for college. I still felt like a teenager I guess. When you’re a freshman living on campus, your meals are still taken care of for you. I still did like to go off campus to Target for snacks and things. It was kinda fun at first to go grocery shopping by myself. I don’t think I really felt like an adult until I was 20, for some reason.
