How old were you when you first started to explore your vagina and what it looked like?

I’m 19 and I just now started to explore what it looks like down there because I’ve started to shave more often. This is just to potentially make me feel better if other women also felt comfortable looking at their vagina at a later age. 🤭

I wanted to know everything possible about my own anatomy. I was 11 when I got my period so that's whe I decided to look at myself with a mirror, grab some of my mom's old pregnancy books with female anatomy information, diagrams and real photos and I asked her any questions I had and she was wonderful to teach me everything accurately. She also took me to see a gynecologist when I was 15 or 16 because I wanted to be very educated. I sat in her personal  office and had a very long talk. I wish more parents were so open to letting their children have proper education. So many of my friends in high school didn't even know where a tampon went. They literally asked me if it goes in the anus because they never took a look at themselves or looked at any diagrams  and their parents were ridiculous and wouldn't let them see gynecologist. I even had to teach them how to use tampons and told them how sex works because sex ed taught them nothing and their parents refused to talk to them. Also if you're 19 and have never seen a gynecologist I suggest you go for an exam. Cervical cancer can be developed at any age and it's better safe than sorry and you can ask them any questions you have.

I have always been interested in what my vagina looked like, sex, babies and all of the above. I looked at my vagina closely probably around the age of 12/13. I have always disliked it due to my long labia minora which cause me discomfort more often than not. They started changing when I was around 11 (I got my period at 11) and since then I have always had a hate relationship with my body.

I remember when I was like 7/8 I thought something on me ripped in half, because I never noticed I had two inner "lips." Thought there was only one. 😅😅
