Paris “Spider-Man” citizenship

Bridget

A man rescued a child dangling from a balcony in Paris by scaling the building, Spider-Man style. The man was from Mali and in France illegally after at least one previous attempt at crossing the Mediterranean. He has now been fast-tracked for French citizenship after meeting with President Macron to honour his rescue of this child, and also been offered training and a place on a firefighting crew.

Should he have been fast-tracked for his citizenship? I am all for open and fair immigration, but there are doubtless hundreds of people who are doing amazing things and deserve a fair chance at life in a safe country. Mamoudou Gassama just happened to be caught on film. That seems to be the difference here.

Thoughts?
