Are save the dates necessary?

Our wedding is small and DIY. I really don’t want to spend the money and time on save the dates when everyone will still be getting invites 6 months ahead of time anyway, and most people that will even be coming already know the date. Just seeig how many people find them necessary or not

The aren’t necessary but I’m sending them out. I personally think they are cute and to let people know ahead of time my wedding isn’t until March but I’m sending them out next month.
