Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease going around at work. Should I stay home?
Im 22 weeks pregnant and I work full time as an assistant teacher at a daycare. Recently Hand, Foot, and mouth diseases has started going around (it really started last week but the number of kids who have it has really increasd this week) specifically in my classroom and the two classrooms closest in age to my classroom. I'm wondering if I should see if it would he possible for me to miss a few days at work to try and avoid getting it. I'm aware that adults don't normally get hand, Foot, and mouth but what with the lowered immune system during pregnancy I'm probably at a much greater risk of getting it than all of my coworkers. I also know that there isn't really any risk to the baby if I do get it but my mother really thinks I need to take a few days off to avoid it and I'm just not sure so I thought I would ask some advice from others. Taking the time off would be a hit to our income but not so much that we would starve or anything necessarily so I don't know what I should do.
