Can someone make you love them???

So I was talking to my ex about this new girl he is seeing.

So he claims that this girl does everything for him and loves him so much that she waited for him even while me and him were dating and now that we have been broken up for a little she is going after him full force.

He says he likes her but he doesn’t love her yet but that she does a lot for him and that all of her effort will eventually make him love her. He says he cant love at the moment because he is still hurt from our previous relationship but when he is ready he might be able to love her. Do you think that someone’s effort could make you love them eventually?
