Question about nails?

I do my own nails and i want them to look more like coffin pic below but they always look more almond shape why i use mias secret acrylic. I always cut my tips first then file but i dont want them to be to short and they still turn out almond. Tips would be great i watched youtube but still

You have to keep your file straight as you’re filing, not curving it as you’re getting to the bottom of the nail. 
I marked up a picture of a set that I have done. From A to B, you want your file to be at an angle, that angle differs depending on how narrow you want your nail to be. You don’t want to curve as you file because that’s how you get that ballerina shape.

Do you cut the sides too? I don’t do nails but after years of getting my nails done I noticed. My nail tech used to cut to the length and then the sides to get the coffin shape
