Convincing husband to have a baby?

I’m married, I have a great relationship with my husband, we’re financially stable, have a nice home etc etc and I feel like I’m ready to try and have a baby soon! He on the other hand, doesn’t want to have children for at least 5 more years he says. Doesn’t give me any real reason why.  
Has anyone who’s been through similar come up with any way to convince their husband that they are ready? I just don’t want to wait. Biological clock ticking, baby fever running ramped, I want to start my family. Any advice? I’m trying to just be okay with waiting but I’m struggling here.

You both need to respect one another’s wishes (even though it’s hard!). My husband and I made a “before baby bucket list”. It included things we wanted to have accomplished or so before trying to start our family. Our list included things like me getting my master’s degree, owning our own home, and specific vacations (Vegas, Italy). We both felt more comfortable with TTC knowing we were both in a good place mentally. Maybe that would be something you could try?

It's not easy. My husband and I argued about it for a while. I kept explaining how I felt. How bad I wanted to be a mom. He was terrified of being a dad. Eventually we agreed to try but not try. Basically have unprotected sex, not track anything. Leave it up to God or fate or whatever it may be. 18 months later we "stopped trying to not try" it was too hard on me. He saw that. He told me that starting the new year we could really try. See specialists if need be. It was August. We had sex one time. By the time November came we had only had sex once more. Apparently that one time in August, got us pregnant 😂 We found out November 1st. He just stared at the wall for 10 solid minutes before finally saying "I'm going to be a dad." Neither of us came to terms that we were really having a baby until our first ultrasound. By the second one, we were so ecstatic that we could barely contain ourselves. 
You have to really sit down and talk it out. 5 years is a long time to wait. Maybe you can compromise at 2 or 3?

My only advice is make sure you both have university degrees or equivalent training in a skill that you can fall back onto once your kids are teenagers or you happened to break up and you become a single mum, there is nothing worse than reeducating yourself while you have kids growing up! Qualifications BEFORE KIDS will pay off 10-fold in the future!!

I ask because my hubby and I decided we're not getting any younger, and if kids were in our future, we needed to start. And it's good we did, because we're considered AMA. 
Sit him down and really discuss why you both feel the way you do about kids. Don't let him skirt the topic.

You need to have a conversation with him about it. It’s not just individual decisions, it’s yours to make as a couple. Lots of men want to wait because the thought of having a baby scares a lot of them, but marriage is about compromise and you both need to agree on when you’re ready. Though, no one is 100% ready, let’s be real. Lol I do know that ultimatums are NOT a good way to go about it. Good luck to you!
