Please try to read this all i need your honest opinion.. please don’t hate or judge!!
I know this is going to seem pretty naive and to a lot of you it will probably seem like stupid question, but hey just hear me out. if you still think it’s ridiculous then jeez I dunno shoot me. I guess I’m just looking for some hope.
Okay so I have really been thinking about wanting to grow old with someone, well wanting to grow old with my boyfriend in particular.. I would like to know if there is couples out there that are somewhat young ( and by young I mean young adult to mid forties - fifties) and have that innocent, heart wrenching one of a kind love in there lives. The kind of love that some of our grandparents have or had. You know the, meet each other in there teens and stay together forever kind of love. And no I’m not that naive, I know fairytales don’t exist but I’ve watched one of a kind love as well as strong happy marriages fall apart. I know Love is complicated it always has been since the dawn of time. but relationships are so so different now compared to 50-60 years ago. I feel like older generations experienced love differently to what myself and a few generations before me have and will experience. Just The way social media and television, not to mention celebrities and music plus all the ridiculous things that are now considered normal. I feel like it’s changed how innocent and pure and simple love used to be. my grandparents met in high school it was your typical boy meets girl they fall in love, get married and grow old together. They’ve stayed loyal and inlove this whole time and to a lot of people younger than the age 40 that’s a fuckin miracle! Sadly these days getting a divorce or getting cheated on etc is more heard of then people staying together for as long as they live. Even two people who are perfect for each other seem to always part ways. I guess I’m just sceptical because I didn’t grow up with people with that kind of love (besides my grandparents) but even my friends parents, all my teachers every adult Ive ever known really has either been divorced or they never even married in the first place, they’ve either been cheated on by the love of there life or whatever there situation may be it was never ever a happy ending and to me all of that was just normal. I heard about love storys in movies and in books but I had never heard of it in real life.
Just so you know I’m only 19 Wich I know is beyond young okay! I can imagine your all most probably realising now why Im asking such a naive question. however The amount of shit I’ve been through in my short life, I feel old enough and mature enough to know that I want to spend the rest of my life with my partner. But what I’ve been asking myself recently is this...is it foolish for me to think I could have that love with my boyfriend for us to grow old with one another in this day and age. Am I just facing the inevitable?? Am I forcing myself to believe that we can be different to everyone else in this generation and have a long lasting love?
Please be honest With me.. even if your married or madly in Love do you think you’ll stay with your partner for ever? Do you guys think that the “growing old together” kind of love is only a thing of the past now?do you think that relationships and marriages will never be the way they used to be back in the more simple times. Or do you think there is hope for us youngins...
