conditioner to shave pubic hair?

so i've been attempting to shave down there for about a year, and out of everything i've tried to ease the process, conditioner works the best. i find it softens the hair and my skin and everything is smooth and great.

however, about two weeks after i did that for the first (and only) time, i began having thick, cottage-cheese-like discharge that looked like a yeast infection (no itching or smell though).

do any of you shave with conditioner? have you had any issues with yeast infections because of it? or would it be unrelated?
