How long did it take for your newborn to sleep in her own bed?

How long did it take for your newborn to sleep in her own bed? My baby is a week old today and has yet to sleep in her crib. She will sleep in her swing or else she just wants to be held! My husband and i are getting no sleep at all. Any advice would be helpful.

Newborns are in no way, shape, or form prepared to sleep in a crib all alone. If they do, it’s more of a courtesy, and they’re waking up every three hours or so regardless!
They just spent nine months by your side 24/7, they have no concept of what it means to be alone and only crave love and closeness to feel safe!
The best advice I can give is to keep a good night time routine. We did everything exactly the same way every evening, followed a strict feeding schedule and my son has been sleeping through the night in his crib since he was one month old.

My son slept in a Rock and Play next to our bed for the first six months, then went into his crib.

Hang in there!!! It gets better.
It took my LO a couple weeks I think (sleep deprivation is real and I can’t remember!!!). We told our Pediatrician that she would only sleep on us or in her bouncer chair and he told us “you know the recommendations: on their back, firm mattress with well fitted sheets only. That said, it’s really important that you sleep, and that you figure out what works for you.”
Newborns are used to the environment inside the womb, so being on their back is super uncomfortable. If that means that your LO has to sleep on you, or in a swing for a bit, don’t beat yourself up. That’s just my two cents.
Don’t forget to be kind to yourself! You and baby will figure it out soon enough!

my son is 21 months and still sleeps with us most night.  if he falls asleep in my arms, I'll slip him into his bed and then go to mine. some nights he is there all night. most nights he wakes up and we bring him in. we try to just keep a consistent bed time routine. he has a snack, nurses if he wants, by 9:30, we are in bed one way or the other.  he can sleep through the night with us.

I coslept with my son until he was 4 months old. I would have liked to go longer but he wasn’t sleeping as well anymore. The first night he slept in his crib he slept through the night without an issue. I’m pregnant with my second and I’m absolutely cosleeping again. Not only does it help with sleep, attachment, and baby’s sense of well-being, it’s also incredibly easier on mom for the late night feedings.

My rainbow was in a crib soon as we brought her home. She was preemie so I had to do a lot of skin to skin to regulate her body heat and had her with me during the day at all times and at night we'd swaddle her and place her in the crib. Never let her slept with us due to my God son passing away of SIDS. My 8th month old same. I only allowed one of my kids to sleep in the bed with me and it took 6 years to get her out. Never again lol

My son slept in a bassinet in our room til 1.5 months, then he was sleeping through the night so we transitioned to the crib in his room. So he was kinda in his bed from the beginning. 
But he was in the NICU for a week after he was born, so I feel like he got used to his own space beforehand so our case may be a little different 🤷🏼‍♀️. If you don’t wanna have the baby in the bed with you, which personally I chose not too as well, try a bassinet or play pen in the room then they get their space but are still close by.
