Dr vs. Nurse Midwife? Tell me your story... pros and cons of both! 😊

Midwife all the way! I gave birth to my son 5/9/17 with a midwife. It was incredible. She really cared about me and my son. I was not just another number to her. She let me take my time and do everything my way and obviously without any interventions. She even pushed on certain areas and eased the baby out so I wouldn't tear. Midwives aren't for everyone but I highly recommend it for women that are not high risk. I keep telling people to watch the documentary The Business of Being Born. It is amazing and it's on Netflix.

I had a midwife. I don’t understand the need for a doctor to birth a baby.  It’s a natural process. Your own body and clear instruction from the midwife is all you need

I prefer Certified Nurse Midwives. But it is a very personal choice, what works well for one is different for someone else. Midwives tend to be more natural about birth and don’t want unnecessary medical intervention. I’m lucky as my home city has the largest free standing birth center in the country. All of their midwives are CNM, they all have degrees in nursing and masters or equivalent specifically in midwifery.

No stories yet, but I've decided to do Midwife because they tend to be more receptive toward natural birth and the birth center near us is gorgeous :)
