Did anyone else have to get a 1 hour blood glucose test around 12 weeks or so because of your BMI?

I did not think I would have to get this done this early, now I'm worried and hope I don't have gestational diabetes. I have my first 12 week appointment next week and the nurse said I will have to get a 1 hour blood glucose test done because I weigh 185 and my BMI is 30. Did anyone else have to do this because of your weight and everything was fine?

I did and was diagnosed with it at 12 weeks. They did it both because I'm overweight and advanced maternal age. However, I had my annual HRA blood work for my job a few weeks prior to conception and everything was a-okay lol. Once I adjusted to it, it's actually been kind of. Ice being diagnosed that early. I had a lot more time to adjust and try things before it was "vital". I kind of look at it as if I was diagnosed later on I probably had it this early anyway so it's better to know early. It's really not that bad once you figure out what you or can't eat, even though I do have to take insulin. 29 weeks now, I'm well managed and there has been little talk of needing to take baby early due to it.

I did with my first son around maybe 16/18 weeks because of my BMI it was fine. I moved to a different state and didn't have to with my current pregnancy. it just depends on your office

I did but not on account of my BMI. I have kaiser and at least where I live they do it around 12 weeks and again later  in second trimester. I passed mine no prob. I have my second coming up in a cpl weeks hoping for the same result! Good luck!! I didn’t think it was nearly as bad as I had heard from other mamas.

No. We did do a first trimester A1c which is a simple blood test with no prep and gives a snapshot of how the body processes sugars over the previous few months.

I didn't have to and my BMI is 32. I had the test at 28w like normal and came back with no GD.

mine was closer to 20 weeks the first time I had to take it, but yeah. came out fine. then did the last one at 26 weeks and it was fine again.
