When were you told the second trimester begins?

So I am seeing a mix of opinions. I was told by my OB-GYN that the second trimester officially starts at 14 weeks. I just want to be in the clear already. 10w5d now. Miscarried at 12 weeks in January.

I've always understood that the second trimester begins once you end week 13 and the 14th starts. However, miscarriage risk drops considerably at 12 weeks so I think that's why most people announce then and they think that's when the 2nd trimester begins.
